Hacienda & Eco Lodge Morgan’s Rock
Hacienda & Eco lodge Morgan's Rock is part of a 1,000-hectare reforestation project and an 800-hectare private nature. More than 1.5 million hardwood and fruit trees have been planted during the past eight years in order to speed the return of the land to its natural state as an ecosystem. The actual owners bought the land with the goal of reforesting and tree farming and providing employment to the local community. In the year of 2004, the family decided to build a hotel with the minimum environmental impact, in order to preserve the nature and animals in the surrounding area.
These reforested lands, together with the nature reserve and the estuary host a variety of forest animals from howler monkeys and sloths, to white tipped dear, and many native birds of this subtropical region. The beach is a nesting ground for giant sea turtles and during guests stay, this entire property is theirs to explore and enjoy under the guidance of our guides. Take part of the different activities available and experience the life in the hacienda as well as the adventure and nature tours available.
Some of the sustainable environmental practices applied in the hotel are the use of solar panels to heat the water at the bungalows, the furniture in rooms were made by local artisans using the leftover wood from the bungalow construction. Trees were not cut to give space the bungalows. Support to local communities through education and donation of supplies to schools of the area. The majority of the products used at the lodge kitchen are organically grown and raised at the Hacienda, including a variety of fruits, dairy products, poultry and shrimp.
