The first Almanac X Prague hotel room unveiled

The renovation of the Alcron Hotel in Prague, to be reopened under the Almanac X brand towards beginning of 2023, will see the start of a new era at one of the Czech capital’s most famous hotels.

In July 2022, the first room has been revealed to showcase the design of all upcoming rooms. Responsible for the design are Spain-based interior designers Tres Cinco Uno. The new design blends the unique historical features of the hotel with a modern, minimalist style inspired by the city of Prague itself in an abstract way. The new design introduces the characteristic color palette present in the facades, roofs, and historic buildings all around the city.

“Prague is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful cities to visit in Europe. Its buildings are so colorful and varied; this was a strong local inspiration for the design of the hotel interior. I’ve also been enchanted by summer walks along the river Vltava, with all its greenery,” said Pablo Poblet at Tres Cinco Uno Creative Studio. “We decided to incorporate these colors into the rooms, introduced in key elements such as the wainscot that embraces the room, cabinets, headboards, and fabrics. Bringing together the historical and the modern in an effective and sensitive way was key to the project.”

The first mockup room reveals the contemporary and minimalistic design with the dark green color prevailing. However, after spending just a few seconds in it, guest start to feel its warmth hidden in numerous details, with the softness of the beautiful light hardwood floor under the feet or designer lamps, mirror wall feature and large windows which fill the interior with sunlight. Comfortable seating area under the windows creates the perfect nook for relaxing reads of books or putting your feet up after long Prague walks.

Czech craftmanship played an important role in the design of the room, from the custom-made green cabinets of the wardrobes with design handles, to glass pendant bedside lights advocating the Czech glass tradition within contemporary design approach. The heritage protected fireplace at the hotel lobby inspired the standing lamps with backlit alabaster disc and Nero Marquina marble on the bedside tables. The art has been sourced from local artists and customized for the design and feel of each room, using the colors to match and contrast at the same time, but making the room feel fresh and alive. Modern travelers will welcome the interactive TV, coffee machines in the room and sustainable details, like locally sourced materials, upcycling during renovation works, wooden key cards, natural cosmetics in recyclable bottles, all amenities plastic packaging reduced to minimum and local selection of products in minibars.

The bathrooms on the other hand feature a spa-like feel with heated floors, rainfall showers and a contemporary style where the traditional local limestone became the inspiration and is covering the bathroom, floor to ceiling.
